The collection opens with a letter, 1913, written by Richmond suffragist Lila Hardaway (Meade) Valentine from a suffrage convention in Washington, D.C., to her sister, Kate Fontaine Meade. It also contains newspaper clippings describing the meeting and broadsides and pamphlets issued by the National American Woman Suffrage Association. There are a few papers of the Richmond branches of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia and the League of Women Voters of Virginia.

The Equal Suffrage League of Virginia was organized in 1909 in Richmond, Virginia.
